Sonoma Coast Chardonnay
The 2010 Carte Blanche Chardonnay showcases beautiful Burgundian structure with 80% of the Chardonnay coming from Nobles Ranch. Two vineyard influences were chosen: Nobles Ranch on the Sonoma Coast and Lone Oaks Vineyard in the Russian River. The staggering Nobles Ranch sits just above the cloud line, soaking up the Pacific influence with enough sunlight to ripen slowly. Located just inland, a second vineyard was chosen to provide not only terroir differences, but also a slightly richer and denser chardonnay to complement the austerity
and structure from the Pacific coast site. Our goal is to manage acid structure and ripeness well before the grapes are ever picked. 100% Chardonnay. A bright nose of pears, grapefruit and baked pie crust provide a foundation to higher notes of Magnolia flower and a hint of gunpowder. The palate is fresh and focused, evenly balanced by ripe tannins and prominent structure. Flavors of custard are accentuated by William pear, lychee, Meyer lemon and oyster shell lingers.
